Welcome to Dr. McGlothlin's website. Feel free to navigate your way through the website which includes various teaching / course materials, information on Dr. McGlothlin's research interests, his leadership activities, vita, professional and personal links, and much more. Jason McGlothlin is currently an Associate Professor in the Counseling and Human Development Services (CHDS) Program at Kent State University. Dr. McGlothlin is licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor with supervisory endorsement by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board. He earned his doctorate in Counselor Education from Ohio University, a Master's degree in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Otterbein College. Prior to joining the KSU faculty, he practiced in community mental health, private practice, and suicide prevention/hostage negotiation facilities. Dr. McGlothlin has had a variety of local, state, and national leadership positions in the counseling profession. Dr. McGlothlin also serves as the Program Coordinator for the CHDS Master's degree programs in Community Counseling and School Counseling. In addition, he serves as the CHDS Liaison to the Council for Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). His current areas of teaching and research include assessment, suicide assessment, and various counselor education and accreditation topics. Dr. McGlothlin lives in Rootstown, Ohio with his wife (Laura) his son (Matthew) who was born on 7-15-05 and their three cats (two which are hairless). In his leisure time, he enjoys playing with Matthew; playing golf; and landscaping. He tells his students that "being a counselor is a lifestyle, and I love my life".
