"Promoting Excellence in the Profession of Counseling"

Chi Sigma Iota is the international honor society for students, professional counselors and counselor educators established at Ohio University in 1985. Our mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling.

Kappa Sigma Upsilon was established at Kent State University in 1986 by Dr. Donald Bubenzer. The Kappa Sigma Upsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota earned the 2004 Outstanding Chapter Award for Large Chapters. This award takes into account such things as the chapter's promotion of scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, and excellence in counseling. It also takes into account the ability of the chapter to retain and contact members and the strengths of the members, executive board, and committee chairpersons.
